Hong Kong could face full-year negative growth as anti-government protests continue
  • 4 years ago
Hong Kong's finance secretary Paul Chan has warned of negative economic growth this year for the city.
Chan said through his weekly blog post that the past four months of protests have hurt various sectors of the city's economy.
Hong Kong's government is to announce its estimates for the third quarter on Thursday and it's most likely that the negative growth seen in the second quarter will continue into the third.
If that happens, the finance chief says Hong Kong's economy will have entered a technical recession.
