South Korean railway workers start a 72-hour strike from 9 AM, Korea time, on Friday,... demanding higher pay and better working conditions.
The Korea Railway Corporation's labor union decided to walk off the job after its negotiations with KORAIL broke down in late August.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to bring in substitute workers and lay on backup transportation...as the strike is expected to affect 20 percent of passenger services and 60 percent of cargo operations.
The ministry is advising customers who booked train tickets during the strike period to check their reservations and change them if necessary.
Meanwhile,... workers on Seoul subway lines one through eight are holding a legal protest through next Tuesday.
Seoul Metro says the protest which is a step below an actual strike means passengers could face some delays.
