Seoul responds angrily to Japan's protest over Dokdo island patrol flight
  • 5 years ago
South Korea has warned it will sternly respond to any infringement upon its sovereignty by Japan over South Korea's Dokdo Island.
This comes after Japan's defense and foreign ministries on Tuesday summoned a South Korean military attache and an embassy official stationed in Japan.
Tokyo lodged a complaint as a South Korean F-15K fighter jet conducted a patrol flight over the island earlier in the day to mark South Korea's 71st Armed Forces Day.
Seoul's defense ministry said Dokdo is historically, geographically and by international law South Korean territory and any claim by Japan doesn't deserve any consideration.
