Working parents to get longer paternity, maternity leaves from Tuesday
  • 5 years ago
Starting tomorrow, working parents will be able to enjoy greater paternity or maternity benefits.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced a revision to the law to expand the cut in labor hours for employees whose children are 8 years old or younger.
Before the changes, employees whose children are younger than 8, are entitled to apply for a leave or a cut in labor hours for a maximum of one year in total.
Starting from Tuesday, such employees can work shorter hours for up to two years.
Also, male workers will now be able to take up to ten paid days of paternity leave, up 7 days from the current 3 days.
The latest measures are part of efforts to help raise engagement of working fathers in child rearing.
