South Korea's rival parties have agreed to hold a confirmation hearing for justice minister nominee Cho Kuk this Friday.
Following a meeting between the floor leaders of the ruling and main opposition party on Wednesday,... they said differences still exist,... but they decided to hold the hearing to fulfil the role of parliament.
This comes after a confirmation hearing initially scheduled for Monday and Tuesday was called off because of disagreements over who would testify.
Instead, Cho held an unprecedented press conference at the National Assembly... where he denied the allegations against him and his family,... such as suspicious investments in a private equity fund and his daughter receiving preferential academic treatment.
President Moon Jae-in has asked parliament to send a confirmation hearing report on Cho by Friday after lawmakers missed the initial deadline earlier this week.
