China has filed a complaint at the World Trade Organization over the latest U.S. tariffs on billions of dollars worth of Chinese imports.
The U.S. began imposing 15-percent tariffs on a variety of Chinese goods on Sunday and China began slapping new duties on U.S. crude oil... further escalating their trade war.
According to China's Commerce Ministry, Washington's latest tariff actions violate the consensus reached by leaders of China and the U.S. in Osaka in June... and China will defend its legal rights in accordance with WTO rules.
The lawsuit is the third Beijing has brought to challenge U.S. President Donald Trump's China-specific tariffs at the international organization that limits the tariffs each country is allowed to charge.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg reports... U.S. and China trade officials are struggling to agree on the schedule for a planned meeting this month,... to continue trade negotiations after Washington rejected Beijing's request to delay the tariffs that took effect over the weekend.
