Thousands of Hong Kong students went on a unified class boycott and rallied peacefully for democracy on Monday,... after a violent weekend in Hong Kong full of burning barricades, petrol bombs and tear gas.

Thousands of secondary school and university students boycotted the first day of classes on Monday.
Organizers say more than 10-thousand students from over 2-hundred schools didn't show up for class.
Instead, secondary school students gathered for a rally in downtown Hong Kong,...wearing black and with gas masks and goggles on.
Creating a line several hundred meters long, students cried out "Strike for the Future."
Young demonstrators again urged the government to respond to the five demands including ending police brutality towards the Hong Kong protesters.
And it wasn't just students.
Around 40-thousand workers from over 20 industries including finance also participated in a 2-day strike and a rally at a public park.
On Monday a Chinese state media warned that "the end is coming for those attempting to disrupt Hong Kong."
While more than a thousand demonstrators have been arrested so far,...student protesters will continue to fight for greater democracy during the two-week long class boycott.
