Seoul's vice foreign minister meets U.S. officials to relay stance on trade dispute with Japan

While neither Seoul nor Tokyo is budging over their trade dispute, South Korea's second vice foreign minister met with U.S. officials to relay the unfairness of Japan's trade restrictions on Seoul.
On Wednesday morning, vice foreign minister Lee Tae-ho met David Stilwell, the Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs. He also met Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth Keith Krach in the afternoon.
Lee told reporters they discussed the trade dispute with Tokyo, as well as ways to boost economic cooperation between Seoul and Washington.
Lee said the U.S. officials told him that they understand Seoul's position and will do all they can to help.
This comes just days after senior South Korean officials visited European countries and Canada to send out similar messages.
Meanwhile, Japan is also to keep doing the same on its front, especially at the upcoming G-7 summit held in Paris later this week.
