S. Korea, U.S. to stage joint military drills from Monday despite N. Korea threats
  • 5 years ago
South Korea and the U.S. start their joint military drills as scheduled today despite the recent provocations from North Korea.
The drills, which will last around two weeks,… involve a computer-simulated command post exercise to train for a potential emergency on the Korean Peninsula.
These drills will see South Korea retake wartime operational control of its troops from the U.S.
Although the allies scrapped or scaled down large-scale joint military drills,... North Korea said the two of the short-range ballistic missiles it fired last month were a "solemn warning" to the South against the drills and its purchase of fighter jets from the U.S.
