A North Korean soldier has been taken into custody by South Korean authorities after he crossed the inter-Korean border late last night inside the Demilitarized Zone.
Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff says the soldier was spotted moving southward along the Imjin-gang River and going beyond the southern side of the Military Demarcation Line.
During a probe, the North Korean soldier is said to have expressed his desire to defect to South Korea.
The military says there were no unusual movements by North Korean forces at the time.
