S. Korean parliamentary delegation to visit Japan in bid to ease trade tensions
  • 5 years ago
A group of South Korean lawmakers is heading to Japan for two days... as they bid to ease tensions and find a diplomatic solution to the Seoul-Tokyo trade spat.
First up on Wednesday is a working lunch with Fuku-shiro Nu-kaga chief of a parliamentarians' union between the two countries... and lawmaker for Japan's ruling party.
The ten-member team will urge Tokyo to lift its export curbs and scrap plans to remove South Korea from its whitelist of countries that face minimal trade restrictions.
In a separate development,... South Korea's National Assembly will launch a bipartisan consultation group to deal with Japan's export controls today.
Comprised of rival party lawmakers, government ministers and representatives from the private sector, they'll be briefed by the finance ministry and discuss ways to resolve the issue.
