Western Europe is bracing for this summer's second heatwave as forecasters predict a record-breaking run this week for Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands.
With the mercury expected to climb up to 40 degrees Celsius, the countries have issued weather warnings and activated national heat plans to prevent casualties.
The French city of Bordeaux hit its highest temperature since records began on Tuesday with the mercury hitting 41-point-2 degrees Celsius.
French energy firm EDF has shut two nuclear reactors in the southern region due to concerns the water used to keep its reactors cool might heat up.
