A container ship under the South Korean flag has been attacked by pirates this morning in the South China Sea.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries said the crew of the "CK Blue Bell", which was travelling from Brazil to Incheon, were beaten and robbed at 4:25 AM Monday... some 100 miles away from the Strait of Singapore.
The container ship, which had 22 crew members on board, was followed by seven pirates on a speed boat.
The pirates boarded the ship and threatened the crew with firearms before taking off with over 13 thousand dollars in cash, and the crew's possessions including shoes and clothing.
The ministry said two crew members suffered bruising but no serious injuries.
