Sentiment in South Korea's manufacturing industry is down sharply for the third quarter of this year because of a negative outlook for exports and domestic demand.
The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry says a survey of 23-hundred local manufacturers shows the business survey index for the July to September period fell 14 points from the quarter before to 73.
A BSI of less than 100 means pessimists outnumber optimists.
The KCCI attributed the decline to slowing global trade and the ongoing U.S.-China trade war having weakend the local economy's growth momentum and exports.
BSI for both exporting companies and domestic companies plunged by double digits, with the steepest fall in autos, steel and eletcronics.
