South Korean presidential advisor Kim Hyun-chong is back from Washington... where he discussed with his American counterparts... Japan's controversial new trade restrictions on South Korea.
Kim said... he thinks he fully achieved the goals of his visit.
U.S. officials, he said, sympathized with Seoul's concerns over the trade row... and its impact on trilateral cooperation.
Here he is speaking at Incheon International Airport.
"The U.S. officials, without exception, were sympathetic. They mentioned that trilateral cooperation between the three countries should not be damaged. They were also worried about how this might impact the global supply chain related to chips and displays... and damage American companies."
In addition to the trade row, Kim said Seoul and Washington discussed North Korea's denuclearization, U.S.-China relations, and the situation in the Middle East.
