The National Assembly's special budget committee has kick started its review of the government's 5-point-7 billion U.S. dollar extra budget bill.
Today, lawmakers on the committee are holding a general Q&A session with cabinet members,... including Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon.
Of the extra budget,... 1-point-9 billion dollars has been set aside to support recovery efforts after a series of natural disasters,... while the remainder will be used to tackle downside economic risks.
The ruling Democratic Party is also trying to add about 2-hundred-50 million dollars to support the government's efforts to deal with Japan's export restrictions.
The opposition bloc has warned of major cuts,... some of them claiming that the spending is just to win votes in next year's elections.
The committee will hold another Q&A session next Monday,... and after sub-committee deliberations they aim to have the bill ready for vote by next Friday.
