South Korea's Prime Minister called on government agencies to prepare thoroughly so that there are no safety or security concerns when the nation hosts upcoming international events.
Here's some of what Lee Nak-yeon said during the 9th National Counterterrorism Committee meeting earlier today.
"In four days, the 2019 FINA World Championships will begin in Gwangju. And in Busan in November, the Korea-ASEAN Special Summit will take place. I hope all related organizations do their best to maintain perfect security for these two events."
The PM mentioned there are still many terrorist movements around the globe, citing a South Korean national who was recently caught while trying to join ISIS.
Lee also expressed his gratitude to other countries including the United Arab Emirates for rescuing a South Korean national who returned home in May after being kidnapped in Libya.
