Once OPCON eventually takes place, the defense chiefs have agreed,... this future joint command will be led by a four-star South Korean general.
That's a post separate from the existing Combined Forces Command, which is currently led by a four-star American general.
Also they've agreed to relocate the ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Command headquarters, currently in Seoul, to Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek... south of the capital.
These changes were in a joint statement released Monday by Seoul's defense ministry,... which said the relocation decision took into account factors such as operational requirements, transfer costs and time.
The two sides agreed to run a joint working group to flesh out the details for the relocation... including the timing, costs as well as the remodeling of the new headquarters.
The allies had initially planned to keep the headquarters in Seoul at the defense ministry compound.
