South Korea will lower the tax rate on stock trading beginning Thursday,... in accordance to the amendment to the Enforcement Decree on the Securities Transaction Tax Act.
Korea Exchange explained that the transaction tax for shares listed on the benchmark KOSPI and the secondary KOSDAQ markets will be lowered by zero-point-zero-five percentage points each.
The transaction tax, which is imposed regardless of whether an investor makes profit or loss, was first introduced in 1963.
