Leader of ETA Basque rebel group arrested in France

The leader of Basque separatist group ETA, Josu Ternera was arrested on Thursday in the French Alps after 17 years on the run.
He had been sought by Spanish authorities since November 2002,... when he failed to make a court appearance in connection with an attack on a police barrack in the Spanish city of Zaragoza in 1987,... which left 11 people dead,... including six children.
The separatist group is also known to have killed more than 800 people in more than four decades of violence,... with an aim to establish an independent Basque state.
The group disbanded in 2018.
