Transport card readers on Seoul buses to differentiate audio guidance for entry, exit

Starting in May, the card readers on Seoul buses will provide audio guidance …instead of the beep sound when tagging the card to pay for the bus journey.
They will also offer illustrations and guidance in English for foreigners.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the change will first be applied to regular buses in Seoul from May 1st then extended to village buses.
When the reader fails to tag a card, the reader will show an illustration and a red X sign telling the passenger to try again.
The local government says the changes were made to prevent passengers from paying twice because they were unaware of unsuccessful transactions.
