Chinese President Xi Jinping says some 64 billion U.S. dollars worth of deals were signed at the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing this past week.
Following the three-day conference attended by nearly 40 heads of state,... Xi hailed the newly-signed agreements to boost the China-led project,... although stopped short of specifying what the deals entail.
Inspired by the ancient Silk Road trading route,... the global trade intiative was announced by Beijing in 2013 and aims to link up Asia, Africa and Europe... via newly-built roads, bridges, pipelines and ports.
126 countries have signed up for the project so far,... according to Chinese media.
