Gov't to nurture development of new drugs, regenerative medicine to build healthcare industry

Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon says the healthcare industry is at a turning point... because of changes accelerated by the fourth industrial revolution and the ageing population.
Speaking at the 14th Bio Korea convention on Wednesday,... Lee said the government respond to those changes by encouraging the development of new drugs, medical devices, and regenerative medicine.
The government aims to increase life expectancy to 75 years by 2023, and Lee acknowledged that medical technology are in line with that goal.
But, he said, it must also work to prevent healthcare inequality.
Bio Korea is a huge event for the industry.
Running through this Friday, around 25-thousand professionals from 50 countries are expected to participate.
