EU leaders agree to delay Brexit until October 31

EU leaders have granted an extension to Brexit, setting a new deadline of October 31st.
EU Council President Donald Tusk says the extension is shorter than he expected and can be ended early if Britain passes its Withdrawal Agreement.
He added that the UK can still consider canceling Brexit altogether up until the end of this latest extension period.
The UK had been due to leave the EU on Friday.
With this six-month delay, it will have to participate in European Parliament elections at the end of May, unless British Prime Minister Theresa May can get her deal through Parliament before then.
