EU leaders open to Brexit delay until end of 2019 if UK parliament can reach consensus
  • 5 years ago
EU leaders are considering pushing back Brexit until the end of the year, rejecting a shorter delay to June 30th as requested by British Prime Minister Theresa May.
The delay would mean the UK can participate in European Parliament elections at the end of May.
EU members are still debating on the conditions for an extension, saying the British side must outline a clear plan with credible political domestic backing to justify the decision of the European Council to greenlight an extra extension.
