S. Korea's trade deficit in intellectual property rights hit record low in 2018

South Korea's trade deficit in intellectual property rights hit a record low last year...mainly due to strong exports of local game companies' franchise rights.
According to the Bank of Korea on Thursday, the deficit was 720-million U.S. dollars in 2018.
This is sharply down from last year's 1-point-six-five billion dollars.
South Korea has seen a deficit in the sector ever since related figures were first compiled in 2010.
The central bank attributed the smaller deficit to more game companies selling franchise rights and computer programs overseas.
