South Korea and the U.S. have been scaling down their joint military drills... to make room for diplomacy, a move that's caused concern in some quarters.
But the commander of U.S. Forces Korea, General Robert Abrams has dismissed those worries.
In an interview with Yonhap News Agency on Wednesday,... Abrams said... the ROK-U.S. military alliance is absolutely committed to ensuring that it's ready to deal with any crisis... or potential hostilities.
And to support the ongoing peace efforts with Pyeongyang.... he said Seoul and Washington would no longer publicize their military exercises like they did in the past.
As for American troops stationed in South Korea... he said they have nothing to do with any potential peace treaty with North Korea in the future,... and that their presence is solely an alliance decision.
