Notorious Soviet arms dealer Viktor Bout, linked to the December 1995 Purulia arms drop case has been sentenced to 25 yrs in prison in the U.S. The question is will India seek his extradition for trial in the Purulia Arms dropping case? Bout was arrested in Bangkok in 2008 after a sting operation by the Drug Enforcement Administration. He was found guilty of attempting to sell heavy arms to a Colombian rebel group. He was also convicted of conspiracy to kill US citizens and officials, deliver anti-aircraft missiles and provide aid to a terrorist organization. He was nailed by a covert sting operation, where he was heard talking of his nefarious intentions. His lawyer however says that he has been wrongfully sentenced.
