Assembly Speaker, floor leaders of 5 major parties fail to reach agreement on opening Feb. session
  • 5 years ago
National Assembly Speaker Moon Hee-sang and the floor leaders of Korea's five major parties gathered earlier today... hopefully to normalize parliament and open the February extraordinary session.
But they failed at doing so... and they're going to try again this afternoon.
The ruling party wants the February session to open without any preconditions.
The main opposition party is demanding a parliamentary investigation into former ruling party lawmaker Sohn Hye-won..., who's under fire for her alleged involvement in speculative investments.
If the two sides can't reach a deal in the coming days,... pending bills on flexible working hours and the minimum wage,... which were supposed to be put up for a vote in February,... will have to wait until next month's session.
