Nat'l Assembly speaker, floor leaders of rival parties try to thrash out deal to end deadlock in parliament

As part of efforts to break the week-long parliamentary deadlock,.... National Assembly Speaker Moon Hee-sang and the floor leaders of Korea's rival parties gathered to thrash out a deal on Wednesday.
Since last week,... the main opposition Liberty Korea party and the centrist Barunmirae party.... have been boycotting major parliamentary schedules,... demanding that the ruling party agree to a parliamentary probe into a hiring scandal at a subway operator,... and for President Moon to slash his senior aide for civil affairs for his poor vetting of a candidate for a ministerial post.
But the two opposition parties decided to drop the latter condition on Tuesday,.... and are now waiting to see if the ruling party accepts their reduced demands in today's meeting.
The discussions could determine the fate of the review of the government's budget proposal for next year.
