Gov't reviews business cases under 'regulatory sandbox' mechanism
  • 5 years ago
The government will decide today whether to implement a series of deregulatory measures under the 'regulatory sandbox' program.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said Monday it held its first review of new business models subject to the regulatory sandbox... which refers to a mechanism aimed at keeping up with the fast pace of innovation... by offering regulatory waivers for product and service testing during a set time period.
The cases being reviewed include one submitted by Korea's biggest automaker Hyundai Motor... in which the company requested to be allowed to install hydrogen charging stations in five locations in downtown Seoul... that it currently can't do so due to the city's regulations.
The results of some of these cases will be unveiled later this afternoon.
