The South Korean government imposed a 48-hour nationwide ban on animal movement as of 6 PM Thursday,... amid the recent outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease.
The temporary ban will restrict the movement of livestock, including pigs and cows, as well as vehicles that carry animal feed.
The government has also ordered a three-week shutdown of all livestock markets,... and will thoroughly disinfect nearby roads during the period.
The measures follow a suspected third case of foot-and-mouth disease reported... in Chungju, Chungcheongbuk-do Province earlier today,... where eleven cows were reportedly showing symptoms of the virus.
The government has dispatched a team to cull the animals, with test results due to be released late Thursday.
