At Tuesday's Cabinet meeting, South Korea's Ministry of Economy and Finance laid out plans to boost people's livelihoods... some of them related to the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday.
The ministry says it will spend almost 130 million U.S. dollars to increase the number of jobs for the elderly.
It'll set aside around 80 million dollars to support regions that have experienced employment shocks because of weak growth among local firms.
Also, it'll sharply increase the amount of new year's gift certificates that can be used in traditional local markets.
And during the holiday period, when millions plan to travel, it'll set up an emergency headquarters to minimize traffic congestion.
