In a bid to end shutdown, US President Donald Trump on Saturday offered to extend temporary protections for young people brought to the US illegally as children and those fleeing disaster zones in exchange for his long-promised border wall. However, he stood by his demand for $5.7 billion to build a barrier on the US-Mexico border.
