China's commerce ministry says it has made what it called "new progress" with the U.S. to resolve their trade dispute.
In a statement, the ministry said both sides held a vice-ministerial-level phone call last Friday, during which they exchanged views on the trade balance, the strengthening of intellectual property protection and other issues of common interest.
It marks the second such phone call in a week.
