S. Korea's finance chief Hong Nam-ki requests exemption from U.S. auto tariffs

South Korean Finance Minister Hong Nam-ki has asked his U.S. counterpart Steven Mnuchin for an exemption from tariffs on imported vehicles,... following the ratification of their revised bilateral trade pact.
According to Seoul's finance ministry on Tuesday,... they spoke for 20 minutes over the phone,... covering a range of issues,... including an exemption from the auto tariffs.
Mnuchin said he would share Hong's concerns with trade officials in Washington.
Seoul's finance minister also sought continued support for South Korea's trade with Iran,... as the U.S. reimposed oil sanctions on Tehran,... but granted South Korea and seven other countries a temporary waiver on Iranian crude purchases.
