Countries reach deal on how to put Paris climate accord into action
  • 5 years ago
The UN climate change talks in Poland have ended with a deal that will put into action the principles of the 2015 Paris climate accord,... which aim to cap global warming at 2 degrees Celsius by 2100.
After weeks of discussions, officals from around 200 countries on Saturday agreed on rules to ensure they transparently report the efforts they've made to combat climate change as well as their greenhouse gas emissions.
The deal was sealed a day after the deadline, due to disagreements on various points, including how to create a market for carbon credits, which they put off 'til later.
They also put off the issues of how to get countries to set more ambitious goals and financing for less developed countries to do the same.
