CO2 emissions on the rise for first time in four years: UN

A UN report shows global carbon dioxide emissions rose for the first time in four years in 2017.
Tuesday's report suggests economic growth is responsible for the rise, while international efforts to cut carbon have faltered.
The spokesman for the Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said a lot more was needed to be done in order to meet commitments made under the Paris climate agreement.

"….The report warns that the current pace of international action is insufficient to meet the Paris targets and concluded that nations must triple their efforts to meet the 2°C target, and increase their ambitions five-fold to meet the 1.5°C target. The report added that if the emissions gap is not closed by 2030, it is extremely unlikely that the 2°C temperature goal can be reached."
