National Assembly fails to reach agreement to normalize parliament
  • 5 years ago
The country's three main political parties have failed to reach an agreement to end days of standstill at the National Assembly.
Despite a meeting between the floor leaders on Monday,... they were unable to find common ground over whether to hold a parliamentary probe into unfair hiring practices in the public sector.
The ruling party says.... that the opposition is making unreasonable demands,... and that it's putting on hold pending bills and the deliberation of next year's spending plan.
Rival parties have until the legal deadline of November 30th to review the budget.
However, the two biggest opposition parties say... they will not cooperate in parliamentary affairs unless.... the ruling party accepts their demands.
