South Korean and Japanese civic groups have joined forces to appoint a group of attorneys to file a damages suit against a Japanese company that used forced Korean labor during World War II.
At a press conference in Seoul on Wednesday,.... the civic groups said.... they will jointly appoint a defense counsel comprised of roughly 20 lawyers within this year,..... to represent the victims against Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation.
The move comes... after South Korea's Supreme Court ruled that the Japanese steelmaker pay compensation of some 87-thousand U.S. dollars to each of the four Korean victims.
The civic groups will later open a session to detail the procedures and contact the individuals eligible to file complaints.
