A grand ginseng festival is up and running in Yeongju City, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.
More than five thousand people attended the opening ceremony for the ( )Yeongju Punggi Ginseng Festival.
It included a parade that honored Ju Se-bung..., credited as the first person to harvest ginseng in Korea.
Visitors can not only learn the history of the region.
There are hands-on activities like digging and carving the precious roots, as well as making ginseng drinks.
You can also buy fresh ginseng at much cheaper prices than normal during the ginseng auctions.
