S. Korea leads in IT and manufacturing, struggles in national competitiveness

South Korea is maintaining its lead in IT and manufacturing,... but latest figures show... it needs to improve its competitiveness and innovation.
According to a report released on October 14th by the Korea International Trade Association,.... South Korea ranked 1st in semiconductor company revenue and shipbuilding in 2017.
It also scored highly in ICT development.
However, South Korea's national competitiveness remained low compared to other advanced countries,... and the innovative capacity of Korean firms has declined from five years ago.
Korea was also towards the bottom when it came to transparency of government policy.
THe Association made the annual report by gathering statistics from a range of global economic reports.
