As a follow-up measure to the disbandment of the scandal-ridden Defense Security Command last Friday,... Seoul's defense ministry announced Monday morning that it has formed a task force team to prepare for the opening of the new intel command.
The team is made up of 21 members,... and will be led by Lieutenant General Nam Young-sin ,... who has been appointed to spearhead the reform of the military intel unit.
According to the defense ministry's regular press briefing on Monday,... military officials also said the new military intel command will be set up by a new legal framework,... which will clearly state the obligation of the intelligence unit's members to stay politically neutral,... and prohibit the monitoring of civilians.
The defense ministry said the new military intel command is aiming to launch as of the first day of September.
