South Korea has sent its first sets of basic necessities to Laos to help the thousands displaced by flooding after a dam collapsed.
Seoul's foreign ministry said Saturday that a military cargo aircraft loaded with 500-thousand U.S. dollars worth of necessities including blankets and hygiene kits left Seoul Air Base at 8 in the morning.
Among the aid are clothes and kits given by civilian organizations, the Korean Red Cross, and SK Engineering and Construction.
The ministry said that it will offer cash and basic necessities worth a million dollars to Laos.
And on Sunday, South Korea will dispatch a medical team to the area.
Monday's dam collapse led to around three hundred people missing or dead, with 6-thousand left homeless.
