Mumbai rains: Heavy rains hit for the fourth consecutive day today

Heavy rains have lashed Mumbai and its neighbouring areas for the fourth consecutive day today, disrupting road and rail traffic. Railway seeks help of NDRF to rescue stranded passengers. Catering stalls at stations have been asked to keep stock of food items. Two houses have collapsed in Thane and Cracks has developed on Saket bridge along Bhiwandi Bypass. Gurudwaras across the city have opened doors to provide any kind of help and shelter to those stranded in rains. Many trains were stopped and several were running late as rain waters inundated the tracks. Traffic on the roads was also redirected as many roads were closed due to flooding. A pillion rider was crushed to death by a private bus after she fell off a two-wheeler that hit a pothole during heavy rains in Thane on July 7.
