64 killed in Uttar Pradesh after heavy rains, flood over three days

At least 64 people died and 54 others were injured in the last 72 hours as heavy rain continued to wreak havoc in different parts of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The Met department said there is going to be no let-up in weather, forecasting heavy rain and thunder showers in various parts of the state.

Districts where heavy rain has been predicted include Sonebhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Ghazipur, Ballia, Maunathbhanjan, Azamgarh, Deoria and adjoining areas, according to Lucknow meterological centre.

In many places, heavy rain also led to the collapse of houses that were in dilapidated condition, adding to the toll.
