The nation's economy will grow by 2-point-8 percent this year
The figure released by the Korea Economic Research Institute in its Q2 report is the same as the previous quarter, and, a little less optimistic than some government estimates.
Sluggish investment in facilities and construction is cited as the key reason for the relatively low expansion.
Last year facility investment soared by more than 14-and-a-half percent, but the report points to a decline of 3 percent.
Also in 2017 the South Korean economy expanded by a three-year high of 3-point-1-percent.
The Bank of Korea's latest forecast for this year was 3 percent.
