President Moon appoints independent counsel to investigate 'Druking' scandal

President Moon Jae-in has appointed an independent counsel to investigate the political manipulation of online comments -- the scandal named after a power blogger going by the handle "Druking."
The liberal leader picked Huh Ik-Bum..., a lawyer who formerly served as prosecutor.
He's one of the two candidates nominated by the National Assembly.
"Druking" allegedly rigged the Internet comments to sway public opinion.
Ruling party officials, including former lawmaker Kim Kyoung-soo..., are said to have covertly endorsed his campaign.
The newly appointed special prosecutor now has up to 90 days to investigate the case.
