While Kim Yong-chol's team meets with its American counterparts, Kim himself appears to be bound for the U.S.
He reportedly arrived in Beijing Tuesday morning.
According to South Korea's Yonhap News, Kim's name is on the list of people taking a flight to New York on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Kim has met several times with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in *his previous role as CIA director, and he's expected to do the same this time as well.
Also in Beijing with Kim was the deputy chief of North American affairs at Pyongyang's foreign ministry, Choe Kang-il.
Citing an unnamed official, Yonhap News also reported that Kim is expected to meet with Chinese officials on Tuesday before his departure the next day.
