North Korea destroys Punggye-ri nuclear test site on Thursday

The news has finally arrived. North Korea has blown up its Punggye-ri nuclear test site. The news just came in a few minutes ago. For more, let's go straight to Lee Ji-won, part of South Korea's Joint Press Corps for Punggye-ri.
Ji-won tell us more.
Daniel, just thirty minutes ago, we finally heard from the reporters at the North's Punggye-ri nuclear test site, saying that the tunnels have been blown up. The first explosion took place at 11 in the morning, when tunnel number two, or the North Portal was demolished together with observation facilities, followed by the destruction of the West Portal at 2-17 in the afternoon. The third tunnel, or the South Portal, was blown up at just past 4 p.m. There were a total of 5 explosions with a number of them destroying the site's living areas, support buildings and facilities.
For your information, the East Portal, or tunnel number 1, where the first nuclear test was held in 2006, has been closed since that test due to contamination.
With this, the North has kept its promise to destroy its Punggye-ri nuclear test site, where all the regime's six nuclear tests were held.
And hopefully we'll have more information on this when the reporters arrive at the press center in Wonsan after another 17 hour trip back.
Now that's all I have for now, but we'll make sure to update you on this historic ceremony, which many see as the *first step towards North Korea's denuclearization.
